CHAPSO (3-[(3-Cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonio] 2-hydroxy-1-propanesulfonate) is a zwitterionic detergent used for solubilizing membrane proteins, particularly in biochemical research applications. The 500mg formulation provides a mild yet effective means of extracting proteins from biological membranes while preserving their functional integrity. CHAPSO is frequently employed in techniques such as membrane protein purification, protein crystallization, and enzyme assays. It is a preferred detergent for solubilizing challenging membrane proteins, offering a stable environment that minimizes protein aggregation while ensuring proper protein folding for downstream analysis.
